hello 4th of july …

What??? Is it really already July?  We have had a whirlwind past few weeks but it has all been good. I have loved spending the extra time with my kids. I even played a little one on one basketball today. I got crushed by an 11  year old.

Amidst all of the craziness, I have squeezed in a little time for some cute custom orders. My favorite is this 4th of July themed birthday shirt. I hope this lucky little one has a great 2nd birthday on the 4th:)

Happy Valentine’s Day

I have been knee deep in potato stamps and candy …

Valentine's Day printables from It's Always Autumn

This free printable is from It’s Always Autumn.  My daughter had so much fun putting these together.  She stamped and added a starburst to the center of each star.  She doesn’t like for me to “help” which is hard for me as I am a bit of a perfectionist.  These little Valentines were perfect as she was able to do all of the work by herself and they turned completely adorable.  She was a happy girl skipping off to school today!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

a little luck …

Lucky Star tee by Modern Frills

Now … for some luck in 2013, you might want to order one of these for the little in your life:)  Perfect for St. Patrick’s Day and every day.  I have a couple other new designs that I will be adding this week, including an especially sweet slice of watermelon!

I have a bunch of side projects I am working on right now, including …

  • a chalkboard version of this sweet saying for my girl … because she really does have us all under her spell!
  • my version of a Smashbook inspired by the uber creative momma behind Jacks & Kate.
  • and a couple sweet birthday gifts for my niece made using some fabric scraps from my ever growing pile.

I promise to share these projects in the coming weeks!

rested and ready for Valentine’s Day … almost

Just when I feel like I am getting caught up with everything around me … up pops Valentine’s Day!  I am not quite ready to decorate as there are a few sprinklings of Christmas still laying around, but I am already thinking about what sorts of crafts and sweets we will be making.  And what is Valentine’s day without a cute tee …

I have already shared these two …

{gift guide} making a list & checking it twice …

In an effort to get everything done, I am a major list maker.  I typically have a few lists scattered about the house.  I like my lists to look neat and cute (given that I have a touch of OCD).  With that in mind, here are a few options for your lists … which also happen to be perfect for gift giving …

1. rainbow recycled leather notebooks 2. initial notebook 3. neon triangle notebook
4. kraft paper notebook

1. chalkboard notebook 2. goldleaf notebook

On a side note, do you ever write the same task on different lists just so that you can cross it off twice?  You are not alone:)

ps … The scrappy ornaments were a huge success!  This is a great craft project to do with the kids and perfect to use up leftover fabric scraps.

a red and white holiday …

The classic red and white holiday color scheme is my favorite.  Little touches of green here and there with holiday music humming in the background and I am ready!  I love the holidays.

1. buffet 2. cookies 3. living room 4. dining room 5. red & white trim 6. wreath

cookies … dream big this holiday season

From contributing writer, Nicole, of Salsa Sweets …

Picture it. 2012. November. 68 degrees and sunny. Trees are bare. Christmas music is playing in the stores. People are already posting pictures of their children sitting on Santa’s lap on facebook. The Black Friday ads have been released and stores are now opening tomorrow for Black Friday that is next week. (Can you even imagine if that was true?!) We are ready.

Ready for what? For the hustle and bustle and stress and bank overdrafts and even uglier traffic? Or, are we going to start a new tradition this year where we pause and breathe and take a moment. That is what a friend of mine is doing. She bought a new home and is moving in during this hectic, holiday time. She is thinking about memories that they will build. She imagines the sound of her daughter’s laughter off in the distance. She dreams of quiet evenings with her husband by a fire. This year, she is dreaming of something new and something bigger than presents, egg nog, and poor Grandma that is 6 feet under due to some reindeer. She is dreaming of starting over.

So, while there isn’t actually snow on the ground right now and my flip-flops still have not been retired for the season, I am sharing with you cookies that are about anew.  I hope they radiate the warmth, joy, and hope that dreaming big feels like.
