Summer is creeping up!  I can’t believe it is already May … and my sweet kids have less than 4 weeks of school left!  I don’t know what it is about having a 9 year old and an almost 6 year old (don’t let her hear you call her a 5 year old) … but I have a pit in my stomach.  Where is all of the time going and why can’t it slow down?  Plain and simple … it is going by too fast!

With summer approaching, I have decided to do something a little different with my shop.  My shop will be closed for a good portion of the summer.  When it is open, I will stock it with Ready To Ship items as I am able to.  In the past, I have crammed my sewing and shop time in the evenings and whenever my kids are occupied.  There were definitely times that I felt crazed as I had too much to do … and I still wanted to be present with my kids during the day.  So, I am putting my little shop on on the back burner for the summer so that I can push Ava on the swings, cheer Aidan on at basketball and just hang out.  Hopefully, I will squeeze in a little reading, get back on my vegan diet (much to my husband’s dismay) and enjoy this precious time with my family.

I will still share things on my blog … likely lots of DIY items as I have a huge list that I hope to accomplish this summer, as well as some family pics and any new designs that I come up with … AND Ava Kate’s party details.

Don’t go anywhere … I promise to open for normal business in the fall when school starts.  So, if you have any custom orders that you are planning on placing … now is the time!  I will close up at the end of May … with a few sporadic openings throughout the summer … and back for regular business once school starts up in the fall.

Thanks for sticking with me and my little business.  You have no idea how much I love making sweet tees for all of your littles.  It is an honor!

I would like to start this post by letting you know that this is going to be boring.  That being said, it is super important especially for my Modern Frills blog and my little business.

Google Friend Connect is one of the ways which you can follow this blog.  There used to be an image on my blog on the right side which looked like this (minus the big red X)…

You won’t find the Google Friend Connect box on my blog anymore.  I took it off a few weeks ago when I found out that GFC was going away.  Those of you that follow this blog through Google Friend Connect still get my blog posts … but only for a couple more days.  As of March 1st, Google is getting rid of Google Friend Connect for all wordpress blogs (which is what I use).  It is likely that it will eventually go away for all blog platforms.

There are other ways to follow my blog.  In my opinion, the best way is to follow my RSS feed.  This is what I use to follow blogs and is very easy to use.  The RSS feed button on my blog is here …

Just click on it and you can choose how you would like to follow my blog.  Callye of The Sweet Adventures of Sugarbelle gives a great explanation of how this works … click here to read her explanation.

Another option is to have my blog posts emailed directly to your inbox …

Click on the link and you will be brought to a screen that will allow you to enter your email address.

This whole Google Friend Connect is a bit confusing..  That being said, I really want you to continue receiving my blog posts.  So … I hope you will follow follow via RSS or via email so you can continue to get my ramblings, shop updates and crafty projects.  I love sharing on this blog and am honored to have all of you as followers!  I also have a pretty fabulous group of giveaways planned for my 2nd blogiversary … 2 weeks full of daily prizes!

2011 is gone and 2012 is here!  I still can’t believe it!  2011 was a pretty fabulous year for Modern Frills.  I am so proud of my little business and am completely honored to have been able to work with so many talented ladies … Kim of The TomKat Studio, Stefanie of Anna & Blue Paperie, Glory of Glorious Treats and more.  I am very excited about what 2012 holds for Modern Frills.  I am already working on a few things and I am sure there will be a few surprises along the way.

I am all about organization, especially at the start of a new year.  My organization is spreading to my Modern Frills Blog too!  I will be blogging with a little bit of a schedule in mind.

• Mondays will be Modern Frills specific … custom orders, customer pictures, new designs … anything Modern Frills related.
• Wednesdays will be dedicated to my craft obsession.  Some crafts will be my own, but I will also share my favorite craft finds from pinterest, blogs, etc.
• Fridays will be my current love … could be a recipe, a photo, a room or a pair of boots!  You will just have to wait and see:)

I am not saying that I won’t stray from my schedule once in a while … but this should give you an idea of what to expect from me and my little blog!

With the holidays coming, I will be slowing down a bit.  I will be spending more time my family and finishing up last minute Christmas shopping!

Modern Frills will be closing this Friday, December 9th and will remain closed into the new year.  I plan on reopening the 2nd week in January.

I still owe you a crafty tutorial that I mentioned here … and as soon as my internet starts working and doesn’t take 3 bazillion hours to load photos, I will post it!  Keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t take much longer!

We had a fun weekend filled with family stuff … good stuff.  The weather is starting to cool a bit.   85 degrees is much better than 110 degrees.  To  top off the good weather, I have this rainbow of fabrics ready to be made into something fabulous…
