my house … guest bathroom storage

I have a bathroom storage problem … a guest bathroom that I love but it is TINY.  I have been looking around for a way to create some storage without adding any cabinets or furniture to the space … as there just isn’t any room.  I saw some vintage baskets hung on the wall over at Miss Mustard Seed.  I love the look so I started shopping around.  I looked and looked … and found nothing.  Everything was too big or too small.  Then I stopped by Wisteria and found these … perfect.

They were easy to hang and work perfectly!

This bathroom is really hard to photograph.  I tried to get a shot of the entire bathroom, but always back into the wall in the hallway … no more space!  Here is one side of the bathroom…

And the other side …

Tomorrow I will threaten remind the kids not to hang on the baskets!

pinterest and a diy dilemma

I am a big fan of Pinterest … by big, I mean I could spend 19.5 hours a day pinning ideas, recipes and cute outfits.  Addictive! I have been pinning diy projects for a couple months and have accrued quite the collection.  The problem is that I actually want to do ALL of them … but I can’t.  I don’t have the time!  So I have to choose one project for this week … that is the hard part!

Bathroom Storage from the one of my favorite blogs … Dear Lillie

Or the perfect door organization idea for my craft room by Brooklyn Limestone

Such a hard decision … Stay tuned to find out what I decided!

crafty … corkboard wall update

It takes me a while to decorate.  I am not one of those super talented people that can shop for 2 days and …. ta da … new room!  It takes me months. I shop everything from antique sales, garage sales, discount stores and more.  Sometimes I am not actually looking for something to buy but for inspiration.  The good news for my family is that the inspiration finally hit me a couple nights ago … and I finished my corkboard wall … mostly.  I am sure I will add something in a couple months but for now … it is done!

Have a great Wednesday!

a little bit of holiday decor …

I haven’t shared much holiday decor lately so I thought I would share our Christmas mantel.  I love decorating the mantel different every year … but still using a lot of the same decorations.  The color scheme is fairly neutral with a little bit of green and sparkle.

I ordered the stocking from Garnet Hill a couple years ago after Christmas while they were on sale.  They are a super dark navy with a green piping trim.  LOVE them.  This year I didn’t use traditional stocking hangers, but instead bought some Scotch brand removable plastic hooks.  I placed them flat on the mantle, hooked the stocking and then covered them with a bit of greenery.

The Happy Holidays banner is an after Christmas find from a local craft store from last year.  The cream reindeer is from Wisteria … love everything about Wisteria!

The acorns are from Natalily Designs.  Our Elf, Criddle, has been watching over everyone atop his reindeer friend.  Tricky little guy.

On a side note … Has anyone else been using the, “Do you want me to go tell the elf what you just did?” line.  It is very effective.

Happy Thursday!

my halloween mantle …

I like to keep my mantle fairly simple … mostly black and white.  Out of a mild case of laziness, I use the same backdrop for pretty much everything.  Then I add little bits of whatever holiday we are celebrating … Halloween.

In an effort to not buy anything new this year, I decided to spray paint a few items that I already had … and give them a little update.

I added a few Halloween decorations on my dining room table as well .  I found the antique milk bottle holder on a recent shopping trip.  Stacked a couple old metal sap tins in each hole and filled them with candy and glittered skulls.

Now if I could just get the candy to stop disappearing!

union jack bunting…

I have a major MAJOR love for all things Union Jack.  (see here for proof) My sister knows this … and having just spend a couple weeks in Europe with her family … saw this and knew I would love it…

Wooden Union Jack Bunting … Seriously!  If I knew this had existed, I would have bought it long ago.  It is absolutely perfect.  Now … to find the perfect place to hang it!
