happy new year and a 2012 update …
2011 is gone and 2012 is here! I still can’t believe it! 2011 was a pretty fabulous year for Modern Frills. I am so proud of my little business and am completely honored to have been able to work with so many talented ladies … Kim of The TomKat Studio, Stefanie of Anna & Blue Paperie, Glory of Glorious Treats and more. I am very excited about what 2012 holds for Modern Frills. I am already working on a few things and I am sure there will be a few surprises along the way.
I am all about organization, especially at the start of a new year. My organization is spreading to my Modern Frills Blog too! I will be blogging with a little bit of a schedule in mind.
- Mondays will be Modern Frills specific … custom orders, customer pictures, new designs … anything Modern Frills related.
- Wednesdays will be dedicated to my craft obsession. Some crafts will be my own, but I will also share my favorite craft finds from pinterest, blogs, etc.
- Fridays will be my current love … could be a recipe, a photo, a room or a pair of boots! You will just have to wait and see:)
I am not saying that I won’t stray from my schedule once in a while … but this should give you an idea of what to expect from me and my little blog!
And now for one of my current loves …
… gazing at her work, while she decorated her Christmas tree. It was a great holiday!
Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas & Happy 2012…
Saturday, December 24th, 2011shop feature: Fine & Dandy Paperie
Holiday cards are big with my family. This year I worked with Rachel of Fine & Dandy Paperie for our holiday card. I love her design aesthetic … modern and chic with some gorgeous color combinations. And her fonts … I have a weird love for fonts and she mixes them perfectly.
Making a decision was not easy given the choices … but I finally decided to go with this card …
And for the back …
Did I mention they are PERFECT … printed beautifully on a sturdy linen card stock. The red and grey combo is gorgeous and I love the chevron background
Here is another one of my holiday favorites in Rachel’s shop…
In addition to holiday cards, you will find shower invitations, birth announcements and more…
Stop by Fine & Dandy Paperie today to see all of her designs. Happy Shopping!
a gingerbread house, whippy cake & weekend plans …
Love this sweet photo of Kate (daughter of Kim, The TomKat Studio) wearing my latest holiday design, The Peppermint Gingerbread House. This design coordinates with The Gingerbread House Party printables Kim created for a recent HGTV shoot. Stop by HGTV to see the party photos and to download the printables for FREE.
The stunning hair applique is by Whippy Cake. You will definitely want to stop by Whippy Cake and do a little shopping. I have had my eye of this and this … shoot me an email if you need my mailing address:)
Speaking of Whippy Cake … Wouldn’t it be great to win some Whippy Cake designs of your own? Hop on over to The TomKat Studio and enter the Whippy Cake giveaway for a $100 shopping spree!
And now for my weekend plans …
My youngest and I are having a girls weekend as the boys will be off “camping” (aka … staying in cabins with flat screen TVs, wifi and all of the amenities). Our weekend includes some gingerbread house decorating and Ava’s very first sleepover with her best buddy, Cami. Just try wiping the smile off her face … she is so excited!
my day and a sneak peek …
I had so many things on my To Do List today … and then the school called, sick kid … or so I thought. I picked up the “sick kid” from school and brought him home. I was just about to get him snuggled up in front of the TV with a good movie, when he skipped in the kitchen …
Fake Sick Day Play by Play …
the faker … “Hey, do we have any snacks?”.
Me … “Ummm … Aren’t you sick … upset stomach.”
the faker … “Well, I am still hungry. Do you want to play a game?”
Me … “It’s 9:15 … too early for a snack since you ate breakfast an hour and a half ago and your stomach hurts … or does it?”
the faker … “It’s feeling better now.”
Me … “What? Are you sick?.” (Keep in mind we have only been home from school for 15 minutes.)
the faker … “I was and now I am better.”
Me … “Oh no you didn’t! Go get the cleaning supplies. I have some work for you.”
The faker did ask me to take him back to school two times today. I refused
This picture makes more sense to me now …
That was my Monday in a nutshell.
Sneak Peak of an upcoming crafty project …
Happy Monday!
family photo outtakes …
Monday, November 21st, 2011a washer surprise …
Monday, November 14th, 2011my finest moment(s) …
1. My 8 year old abbreviated medicine to meds. in his homework. “What … that’s what you call them.” His teacher didn’t see it that way.
2. Ava: “I love you more than Abby.” Abby is our dog.
3. Ava and I were on a recent mommy/daughter date night at her favorite restaurant, Fishrock…also known as Rockfish. It was raining and we had to make a run for the car as I was not prepared with an umbrella …
Me … “Hurry up and hop in the car”
Ava … (as she climbs in the car) “Dammit, my feet got wet.”
Me … “Ummm, what did you say?”
Ava … “Dammit, my feet got wet.”
I was too afraid to ask her where on earth she heard that word … as I already know the answer to that. They really do listen to EVERY word you say! My sisters only comment was, “at least she used it correctly”.
Happy Friday!
