{party feature} … Camille’s Cherry Picnic Party
I love the idea of taking a simple activity … a picnic … and planning a party around it. Jodie of Millie & Me did just that with lots of gingham, red & white, polka dots and one very happy birthday girl…
Love this picture of Camille (in her Modern Frills Cherry tee) in front of the dessert table…
A few more party shots …
Party details as described by Jodie …
“Camille’s 3rd birthday was a cherry picnic party that we celebrated with lots of family and friends. Camille opened her presents on a blanket made by her great grandmother and wore a cute custom cherry tank top! The dessert table included cupcakes and cake topped with cherries and printable cherry toppers, fruit cups, marshmallow pops with pink icing, and strawberry baskets with cookies. A backdrop covered in burlap held a gingham and cherry ‘happy birthday’ banner. The adult table was decorated with 36 inch polka dot balloons, mason jars with votives, burlap runners, and tall pillar candles. the kids table was decorated with 17 inch red balloons and gingham pinwheels in buckets. Cherry koolaid was served in plastic milk bottles with white paper straws. Water bottles were wrapped with cute gingham packing tape (easy and cute DIY project!) Favors included bubbles in metal tins with handmade wands and cupcakes in a jar tied with twine and a wooden spoon(these were a huge hit with everyone!).”
A huge THANK YOU to Jodie for sharing her ADORABLE party!

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011my halloween mantle …
I like to keep my mantle fairly simple … mostly black and white. Out of a mild case of laziness, I use the same backdrop for pretty much everything. Then I add little bits of whatever holiday we are celebrating … Halloween.
In an effort to not buy anything new this year, I decided to spray paint a few items that I already had … and give them a little update.
I added a few Halloween decorations on my dining room table as well . I found the antique milk bottle holder on a recent shopping trip. Stacked a couple old metal sap tins in each hole and filled them with candy and glittered skulls.
Now if I could just get the candy to stop disappearing!
fall inspiration …
Loving this fall table I came across over at 100 Layer cake. Love Me Sailor, Mr. Caballero Creative and Geronimo Balloons collaborated on this photo shoot and it is amazing.

Monday, October 17th, 2011{custom order} … little bee
I had a stressful day yesterday … no one’s fault … just not my day! There were two things that cheered me up. First, my girlfriend sent me a photo of her 2 year old son dressed up in her daughter’s shoes … knee high lace up converse. It was funny!
Second, this top…
LOVE the way it turned out!
On a separate note … Thanks for all of the comments about my daughter’s most unfortunate fashion sense. Guest I am not alone!!!
Happy Friday!!!
letting go … in a funny way
When I envisioned my daughter going to Kindergarten, I imagined her in a super cute outfit … a pink skirt, a Modern Frills tee and cute (but sporty) tennis shoes. The first couple weeks I would give “guidance” in the evening when we were laying out her outfit for the next day. She would get up in the morning, put on her clothes and skip into the kitchen for breakfast.
I am not sure what has happened in the past couple weeks but she is sporting a new level of confidence! In addition to confidence, a renewed sense of fashion as well … think Punky Brewster and Rainbow Bright sharing a closet. It also doesn’t help that my husband buys her whatever crazy socks they come across on their Target shopping trips.
I had to smile and let her walk out the door. My favorite comment up as school was from another mom, “It sort of matches. The shorts have red in them too. Wow … I just got to the socks and shoes. Never mind … that is awesome!”
I did smile all day long thinking of her rocking her outfit at school … so proud that she is not afraid to show her true colors!
